Adding a dose of reality…

I chose this namely due to all the good reviews here. However this isn’t precisely the dream product users assert it to be. Yes, it is solid wood. Yes, it’s reasonably stable however:

Fire wood is also solid.

The wood for this unit is genuinely very cheap and looks cheap. Significantly lighter in color than the picture Assembly is not as easy as users make out. You’d need some “flat pack” experience if you want to see to it it’s solid sufficient to trust it to hold your TV. There were also a bunch of preexisting scuffs and scratches in the grain.

This was when it comes to $100 when I got it. As the price is dropped it may be better value, but it is surely no bargain. You may in all probability find comparable merchandise at local stores for half the price.

Fabulous

Beautiful, solid wood, EASY to assemble (not one of my skill areas) and the wheels roll the unit smoothly. This is the idealisti informal storage unit for a little corner. It’s keeping a 37″ old-fashioned TV (not flat) and there’s still a lot of extra top surface. The under-shelves accommodate an XBox 360, a Wii, the modem and Airport, with lots of extra room. (Note: the space in the undershelves is just a bit short for the Wii on it is end in the stand, with one of those plug-ins on top, but I solved that by having the back of the Wii stick out a bit beyond the back of the unit.) A very well-designed unit. Could be a utile item in an office.
