Belfield
Beautiful locket. strong chain and clasp. Bought two for my granddaughters who are in their early teens and the locket looks so nice on them. Looks great on an adult too. I did a lot of research on line to find a locket that did not cost to much and had a strong enough chain, this one was one of the best I’ve seen. Room for two pictures. Pictures go behind two heart shape clear plastic inserts. Remove with point of a pin, keep safe they are easily lost. Scan picture on computer, crop face with heart shape crop tool then resize to fit locket opening. Practice makes perfect. Snap in plastic heart cover over picture. Comes with a beautiful blue velvet box. Made a big hit with everyone. especially the girls. A really great buy. So pretty.

Villa
My wife LOVED it! This pendant was great for my wife and I was even thinking about getting one for my daughter for her birthday. But the clasp broke within 3 weeks and is not usable. I will be getting a little better chain with clasp that will hold a lot better than it did. But don’t let this ‘clasp’ issue prevent you from buying one. The locket itself is really nice. Good product for the price.

The area for the pictures is large enough to see the details of the picture, but not too large. You can put a picture on both sides. The chain and clasp are strong and a good length 18″. My husband cropped the pictures and had them printed at costco. The quality is amazing much better than using our home printer. The pictures could be easily changed, though I will keep the ones he put in it. I highly recommend this great quality, beautiful, silver locket. I love the satin finish!

Wallace Nutting sold more hand-colored photographs for the duration of America’s 1900-1940 “Golden Age of Hand-Colored Photography” than any other photographer of his time. It is approximated that amongst 5,000,000-10,000,000 of his pictures beautified the walls of middle class American homes for the duration of the early 20th century. Why was Wallace Nutting so successful? And why are his pictures still being widely accumulated today? This article represents a basic introduction into the world of Wallace Nutting Pictures.

It was shortly after 1900 that Wallace Nutting retired from the ministry due to ill health (he was a Congregational Minister in Providence RI at the time). As part of his recovery, he started out touring the New England countryside by carriage or car, taking photographs of rural New England. Nutting was one of the original to recognize that the American scene was changing. Industrialization was altering the way our country looked and our pure and picturesque landscape would never look the same again. He seemed to feel it his divine calling to record the beauty of America for future generations.

Beginning introductory in Vermont, then Massachusetts and Connecticut, and at long last allround the rest of New England, Nutting started out photographing country lanes, streams, rivers, lakes, orchards, blossoms, birches, and mountains. Wallace Nutting would take the photograph, assign a title, and instruct his colorists how it will have to be hand-tinted. Each picture that met Nutting’s high standards of color, composition, and taste would be affixed to it is matting and signed by his workers with the distinctive “Wallace Nutting” name. (He hardly ever signed any pictures by himself). Those pictures that did not meet his rigorous standards were destroyed. Beginning firstborn with outdoor (Exterior) scenes in New England, Nutting finally traveled all around the United States and Europe, taking photographs in 26 states and 17 alien countries amongst 1900-1935. Overall, he took more than 50,000 pictures, 10,000 of which he felt met his high standards. The remainder were destroyed.

It was around 1905 that Nutting begun taking his introductory indoor (Interior) pictures. Supposedly one day while it was raining outside, Mrs. Nutting suggested that he take a more “Personable” picture indoors. So, he set up a colonial scene, near a kitchen hearth, had an employee dress up in a colonial fashion, and took assorted dissimilar pictures. These sold comparatively without apparent effort which encouraged him to exaggerate more into this area. Nutting’s love of antiques, his passion for the pilgrim period, and his unquestionable desire to turn a earnings led him to ultimately buy and restore five colonial homes:

Webb House, Wethersfield, CT

Wentworth-Gardner House, Portsmouth, NH

Cutler-Bartlett House, Newburyport, MA

Hazen-Garrison House, Haverhill, MA

Saugus Iron Works (Broadhearth), Saugus, MA

Nutting purchased these homes because he felt each represented a dissimilar amount of time of early colonial American style and taste. It was here, along with his own homes Nuttinghame (Southbury, CT) and Nuttingholme (Framingham, MA), that the majority of his Interior pictures were taken. Nutting’s desire to provide the most rectify and suitable settings for his Interior scenes led him in his quest to gather one of the best collections of early American furniture ever assembled. He would use the best examples of early American furniture in his Interior scenes and, when he couldn’t find it, he would reproduce it. (We’ll focus on his reproduction furniture in a subsequent article).

Working in Southbury CT from 1905-12, and then in Framingham MA from 1912 until his death in 1941, Nutting sold in a literal sense millions of his hand-colored photographs. He claims to have sold around 10,000,000 pictures although, knowing his habit of exaggeration, that number is probably somewhat high.

Whatever the unfeigned number, it was large. Wallace Nutting pictures were from time to time called “poor man’s prints“. Sold all around the initial quarter of the 20th century, well before the invention of color photography, these pictures initially sold in a literal sense for pennies. His market was primarily the middle and lower middle classes…those households which could not afford finer forms of art. Because of their low price, Wallace Nutting pictures were purchased in huge numbers. By 1925, scarcely an American middle-class household was without one as they were purchased as gifts for weddings, showers, Christmas, birthdays, and for just regarding any other reason imaginable.

Nutting sold a good deal of pictures directly through his studios where he also provided his own framing services. But he also sold his pictures through numerous other outlets as well: section stores, drug stores, and gift shops, all around the country. He even had full-time salesmen on the road whose sole occupation was to trade his pictures to these selling establishments. Salesmen whom, he claims, sold sufficient pictures to retire rather handsomely themselves.

The height of Wallace Nutting picture popularity was 1915-25. During this time Nutting had almost 100 colorists in his employment, along with another 100 workers who acted as framers, matters, salesmen, management, and various administrative office personnel. Let there be no fault when it comes to it…Wallace Nutting’s pictures were huge business. But by the late 1920′s, persons started out to tire of Wallace Nutting. As with any other fashion or style, tastes begun to modify with time. Wallace Nutting pictures became passé and sales showed a steady decline. Even the introduction of dissimilar matting styles, greeting cards, pen-type silhouettes, and lower priced machine-produced routine prints could not rejuvenate sales.

The Wall Street crash of 1929 and the following depression all but sealed the fate of the Wallace Nutting picture business. Although it remained in operation even after his death, the output was inconsequential after the early 1930′s. Over the years, millions of Wallace Nutting pictures were in all probability thrown away. Many of those that stay show the signs of 60-90 years of wear after being stored in attics and basements, with water stains, broken glass, dust, dirt, and mildew.

As the firstborn owners of Wallace Nutting pictures have grown older or passed on, their Wallace Nutting pictures have also been passed on to another generation. Some were given directly as gifts, others were inherited by children and grandchildren. Those that weren’t passed along to families were sold at auctions, estate sales, tag sales, and flea markets where they re-entered the collectables mainstream for the duration of the 1975-2000 period.

What are gatherers looking for? Just as in Wallace Nutting’s time, Exterior scenes have the widest appeal. Interior scenes have a more fixed appeal, but since they are rarer, they distinctively command a higher price than Exterior scenes. However, we have seen that as America’s fascination with the “Country” look has diminished over the past 5-10 years, interest in Nutting’s Interior scenes has softened as well.

The most desirable pictures to severe Nutting collectors are Miscellaneous Unusual Scenes. These are pictures which fall outside the more ordinary Interior and Exterior scenes: Architecturals, Children, Florals, Foreign, Men, Seascapes, Snow scenes, and a select few geographical rarities. Nutting’s basi sales in these categories were significantly lower than with his Exterior and Interior scenes, accordingly their “/i>rarity” attracts collectors. Just as in other areas of collecting, the rarest examples, in the best condition, are the easiest to sell, no matter of price. But just as necessary as rarity and subject matter is condition. Collectors want pieces in magnificent condition and imperfections such as water stains, blemishes, poor coloring, or damaged frames may all significantly reduce value.

As of 2010 the Auction record for a Wallace Nutting hand-colored photograph stands at $9,300.00, which is rather reasonable within the high-priced world of Antiques & Collectibles. However, as the economy has softened, so too have Wallace Nutting prices and perhaps 90% of Wallace Nutting pictures are marketing in today’s market for less than $150-$200. And some may be had for $50-$75 or less. Which means that if you be grateful for Wallace Nutting Pictures, this is in all likelihood the best time to buy them in the past 25 years.

Harker is a striking new collection of thirty memorable black-and-white photograph postcards featuring the diverse barns of Iowa and the Midwest farmsteads. Vivid images of barn structures in all manner of weathering and disrepair, the images are simply stunning, Still Standing features barns ranging from a pioneer Swedish design, to Dutch, square, round, brick and wood structures for an impressively diverse compilation. Still Standing is very highly recommended for all lovers of the greater Midwest area searching for an enthralling anthology of pictorial representative postcards definitively creating the image of what really makes the Iowa and its surrounding states exactly what they are. The only problem is whether or not anyone could bring themselves to actually use the individual pages as the actual postcards they are expertly designed to be — and therefore no longer continue to have and enjoy them for themselves!

A firewood box is one tool that ought to be a percentage of any home where using the fireplace is the norm. Their practicality, durability, and style choices make it an easy choice to add to your home. To aid give you an idea of some of it is benefits, we have put together.

1. Keeps firewood in one place.

One practical vantage here is they help prevent the peril of tripping over loose firewood. In addition, it gives rise to a specific emplacement for firewood making it posing no difficulty to inventory existent quantities of wood for determining when another trip to the woodpile is needed.

2. Protects the floor and carpet from dirt and bark.

One of the biggest vantages of using a firewood box is that it helps keep the area cleaner. Many times, wood will have bark and dirt that may without apparent effort fall off the wood when it is being placed into the fire. The box is very effective at keeping this dirt in one place that may without apparent effort be discarded when the box is empty. This results in less peril of harm to wooden floors, stains on carpet, or scratching other nearby objects like furniture.

3. There are a number of stylish designs.

These boxes offer a great way for adding to the home décor. Many of the designs may have a more basic and rustic look to them whereas others tend to be more elaborated and intricate in design. However, no matter of the design used, the result is buyers will have to have little difficultness finding a version that will look outstanding in their home.

4. Costs are comparatively inexpensive for the value given.

Costs on intermediate range from anyplace from $50 on up to $200. The more general wooden models will be on the lower end and the higher end models will take on metallic materials providing contemporary or futuristic looks. These prices are more than reasonable when you consider their durability, style and practicality. You may reasonably suppose these boxes to last for a lot of of years.

By keeping these dissimilar gains in mind, it is easy to see why a good deal of humans have chosen to add firewood boxes to their home.

All of us live dissimilar lives and there may be a good deal of of you out there who go into battle each and each day within your own society. For that reason, I produced a list of all the known opinion proficiencies that master persuaders use to influence persons and get what they want.

Nevertheless, please take note that with outstanding power comes great responsibility. Always use your cognition for the gain of every one and not just your own. Do you get that, Spidey?

How To Make People Cooperate

1. Humor – If you may make humans laugh, you make them feel good. This allows you to without apparent effort establish a kinship with them.

2. Smile – First impressions last, and basi impressions formulated with a smile is unquestionably an advantage. Try smiling at each person you come throughout the street and you’ll see what I mean.

3. Respect – We all recognise that respect is earned and not given. However, you will have to always give respect, initially, to any person you meet. It’s always easy to do a favor for an individual who shows you respect.

4. Build instant rapport – People who may fabricate rapport instantaneously with any person has more friends and may establish good relationships than those who can’t.

5. Use body language – Understanding body language is part of the plan. Our each and everyday communication is 55% body language. Although you get the signals unconsciously from the people you talk to, knowing how to consciously recognize these signals is a plus in the art of persuasion.

6. The Halo Effect – We normally categorize persons as in general good or in general bad. Any trait that you show to a person in the future may be influenced by what you show today. Make sure that any individual you meet today will get the impression that you are in general good.

7. Similarity – Birds of the same feather, flock together, don’t they? If you may always find a way to without delay learn what’s similar among you and the other person, you may without apparent effort create a bond. This bond will at last construct into trust which is always what you need to get people to do something for you.

8. Goodwill – Always be authenti when showing interest in other people. Being sincere in regards to your concern for other persons will make them like you quicker.

9. Bonding – People’s names sound like jingle bells to their ears. Call people by their names and they will give you more attention.

The Mirroring and Matching Techniques

10. Mirror their language – Mirroring is a technique used in neuro-linguistic programming to unconsciously establish rapport with a person. Using the same kind of language that the other person is using may aid you build that rapport in no time at all.

11. Match their breathing – Breathing alone may help you establish rapport that you will use in persuasion. The effectiveness of this technique relies on it is concealment. Who will ever observe that someone is attempting to copy their breathing pattern anyway?

12. Match their voice – Matching a person’s voice works on the unconscious level as all of the mirroring proficiencies you see here.

13. Mirror their moods – When a friend of yours is in a bad mood, do you approach them with a joke? Of course not. Always determine people’s mood before you try and make them do what you want.

14. Match their energy level – A person’s energy level will give you an indication of how prone they are to suggestions. If you may be as happy or lively as they are, it may be much having little impact for you to lead them toward your plan.

Applying Cognitive Dissonance

15. Create commitments – If you may get humans to commit, it is more likely for that person to do what you’ve asked them to do. They will be left with an uncomfortable sentiment that will last for a sure time if they do so otherwise.

16. Use written commitments – Written commitments are more inviolable than verbal agreements. Aside from that, it may serve as a lot of kind of contract amidst you and the other person.

17. Create public commitments – Even more inviolable than written commitments are public commitments. Not only will there be a concern regarding the relationship, the person’s reputation is also at stake.

18. Use external incentives – Business humans always use incentives for their employees. Although the motivation it provides only lasts for a short period, it still gets the occupation done.

19. Always make them say “Yes” – This is a kind of conditioning wherein the person’s response is matched with the stimulus you provide which, in this case, is your request.

20. Make them give an venture – If you may get persons to invest an effort, it’s more likely that they will stick to your plans or carry out your requests.

21. Create dissonance and offer a solution – If you’re planning to make someone feel uncomfortable to get them to do what you want, just make sure to offer a way out.

Creating A Sense Of Obligation

22. Gift giving – How do you feel when someone gives you a gift and you don’t have anything to give back? Pretty awful, isn’t it? You’ll likely say, “Geez, don’t have anything for you. Just let me know if you need anything…” Ain’t that powerful?

23. Mutual concession – There will be times when an individual will undertake to influence your mind wherein you might feel helpless after realizing you don’t agree to what just happened. Don’t worry! What the other person does not know is that he/she is just as vulnerable when it’s your turn to make them agree to your demand.

24. Give a favor, get one back – Sometimes, humans will do things for you whether you like it or not. The problem with this is that it generates a need to reciprocate within the recipient’s mind. If you’re a generous person who finds pleasure in giving favors for other people without expecting anything in return, just make sure you let them know.

25. Sharing mysteries – Share a mystery to construct a bond, a sense of obligation, and a sentiment of trust. Just remember, the kinds of mysteries you share ought to depend on the kind of person you’re sharing it with.

The Power Of Groupthink

26. Create a group – The more spectacular the group, the better. Humans have a strong need to socialize. People attach themselves to groups to have a sense of belonging. If you want persons to conform with your ideals, beef up the group and make it grow.

27. Make every one intimate – If you may get persons to strongly distinguish with your group, the more comfortable it will be to influence their behavior. Also make sure that every one is similar in the way they think.

28. Establish your principles – Companies ordinarily have principles which they package in the form of mission and imagination statements. It’s essential that humans within your establishment or your group learn to cohere to these principles.

The Law Of Scarcity

29. Illustrate the potential loss – The possibleness of losing an individual or something may from time to time make us feel that our freedom is being restricted. Sometimes, persons act irrational when this happens. When you’re providing a product or a service, add a sense of potential loss and see how much divergence it makes.

30. Tell them they can’t have it – At times it makes you wonder why you’ll try everything to get something you can’t have. Freedom of choice may have something to do with it.

31. Increase demand; limit the supply – When there’s a strong demand for a product or a service, humans tend to flock toward it. People are always inclined to buy that which is in-demand.

32. Create an appeal – To generate interest in you or what you have, invent an appeal by making yourself appear special. Surround yourself with good company and imagination objects to attract more people.

33. Show exclusivity – When you try the former suggestion, you’re already making yourself exclusive. People just can’t get to you and they have to work their way through obstacles (if you want to call it that). The mere crusade of attempting to get close to you will give you an assurance that they will do anything to please you.

34. Announce a deadline – Procrastination is your greatest enemy. To make sure that your requests or instructions are executed at the time you suppose it to be done, always put up a deadline.

35. Restrict their freedom – A person’s desire always influences his/her behavior. Once you tell people that they can’t have something, the more they will clamor for it. Believe me, this trick is a bestloved among presidents.

The Language of Persuasion

36. Use double speak – Avoid using offensive words and alternate them with less offensive ones. For example: use “mentally challenged” rather of “idiot,” “communication” rather of “propaganda,” “enhanced interrogation” rather of “torture,” and so on.

37. Play with numbers – When you are demonstrating something, play around with numbers in your undertake to persuade. Try something like, “close to nine out of ten” or “fewer than five out of every…”

38. Use positive words – What you want is for people to feel convinced and comfortable in doing what you want. Hence, use positive words whenever you’re attempting to communicate.

39. Pack words with emotion – Emotion packed words are exceedingly utile in making persons act. Just look at how George W. Bush used the word “terrorist” in his crusade versus foes of the U.S.

40. Be silent – After closing a deal, the best thing to do is to be silent. The person has already made his choice and you don’t want to demolish the whole thing by without intention giving the other guy contradicting ideas.

41. Paint pictures with words – Isn’t it nice to spend galore time walking at the park with those lovely trees all over the place, swaying back and forth to the flow of fresh air? You may just feel the rays of the morning sun gently touching your soft skin until, suddenly; you step on a pile of dog poo… (hehe! Just giving you a break. We’re not even half-way through the list)

42. Choose the right words – Using the right words may on occasion make a big difference. Instead of saying, “Sir, I’m sure we’ll have disturb convincing the staff regarding your plans.” try, “Sir, I’m sure the staff will mainly be grateful for it and give you more approval if we try other means.”

43. Replace “you” with “let’s” – You may get more joint operation from humans by replacing “you” with “let’s.” The phrase “let us” gives a hint of involvement on your part. So let’s undertake using “let’s” from now on.

44. Use simple affirmations – Give your instructions in simple, direct, and brief statements. Not only is it having little impact to remember, but it is likewise more comfortable to comprehend and absorb.

45. Use each day language – Complicated language will only confuse your listeners and/or your readers. Sure you got an enormous vocabulary, but if you talk like an intellectually dexterous person (geek) all the time, it’s more likely that you’ll just be misinterpreted.

46. Avoid vulgar and curse words – As much as possible, try to stay clear from using profanity in your affirmations (especially with new acquaintances). Most of the time, your believability depends on the kinds of words you use.

47. Avoid jargon and technical language – If the person you’re talking to is working in the same field as you are, then there’s no problem with this. In most cases, however, you interact with dissimilar people. Like I said earlier, just use every day language.

48. Keep sentences short – In the early centuries, a single sentence may stand as a whole paragraph. Today, we’re without doubt or question living in a world where a single word such as “party” is sufficient to say it all. With that said, “let’s” “party.”

49. Don’t beat around the bush – If you have something to say, say it directly.

50. Use verbs – Action words are more likely to make people move. Keep in mind that the words you say are being imagined by the person you’re talking to. Thought precedes movement.

51. Use words that grab attention – Words like FREE, EARN NOW, EASY, SEXY, and GUARANTEED are just few of the numerous attention grabbing words that you may use. Try to EXPERIMENT with these words by adding them in your statements.

52. Emphasize what you want – Take a look at the last sentence above.

53. Pace – Studies have found that speaking rapidly and without delay is more persuasive than speaking in a slow and monotonous way.

54. Avoid vocal fillers – What this means is that… uhm… well… to make… uhm… your ideas accepted… er… don’t use these kinds of words when speaking.

55. Determine your pitch – Adjusting the pitch of your voice by making it lower is proven to be more effective in persuasive speech.

56. Adjust your volume – Always speak piercing sufficient so that persons may listen you. If you’re speaking in front of a crowd, test the sound system basi to make sure that your audience will not end up being deaf after your presentation.

57. Be more articulate – Ideas that are communicated in a smooth flow and a consistent way adds more credibility. People are more likely to act on your requests or instructions when they are competent to to a complete degree comprehend what you’re attempting to say.

58. Take a great deal of time to pause – Emphasis does not inevitably mean you will have to only speak louder, more fluently, in a low voice, and so on. There are times when you need to pause so that people will have time to absorb what you just said.

Distinction and Contrast

59. Triple the value – If you are selling a product, people are more likely to buy it when they see an extra value. Whatever you are selling, undertake adding a discount, bonus products, a warranty, or anything else that will give the impression of a good deal.

60. Change their perspective – When you talk to a salesperson, undertake to observe how they breakdown the price of what they are selling into ridiculously little easy per month payments. This is called reframing.

61. Shift their focus – This is a technique employed by advertisers to put your attention on the “lighter” side of the picture. Is the glass half full or is it half empty? Is it bad for your purse or is it good for your health?

62. The Door-In-The Face – Make an initially big request that has a possibleness of being turned down. After getting the response, make another request that is reasonable for the other person.

63. Use Comparison – Another technique applied in advertising. I’m sure you see a lot of this on television. You compare your product or request to something similar but unfitting in order to get the person to agree with you.

64. Start high with your request – When asking for a request, try to make your way through in getting a “yes” by starting off high. Large request commonly get a “no” so make sure before you get down to the real request, ask for something larger first.

65. Use the right timing – In order for the former technique to be effective, always state your real request without delay after the earlier ones.

66. Take note of the circumstance – Are you in the office, in class, in a party, inside a church, or inside a bar? Different places have dissimilar moods. Be conscious of the circumstance to be competent to match the person’s mood.

The Power of Suggestion

67. Expect to affect – Expectation is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Did you know that you may affect people’s conduct just by showing them your expectations?

68. Consider it done! – You’ve in all probability heard this before. However, you’re not supposed to be the one to say this. Whenever you send out instructions, just imagine the other person uttering these words to give strength to your unconscious signals.

69. Use persuasive suggestions – Doctors are not the only ones who may use the placebo effect. You may actually use the same principle to make humans do what you want them to do.

70. Emphasize the time – What time is it? Well, it’s time for you to make people do what you want rather of the other way around. Did you get the point?

71. Use their reputation – Most people strongly tell apart themselves with their reputation. “Boss, I know you’re a generous guy. How regarding giving me a raise?”

76. Ask for people’s counsel – Another way to get humans involved is by asking for their advice. Some will even instruct you how to do it the right way.

77. The Visualization technique – People who trade cars will offer a test-ride to a potential buyer. Surely, if you may visualize yourself riding a car more vividly, you’re more inclined to buy.

90. Use quotes – “The real persuaders are our appetites, our fears and above all our vanity. The skillful propagandist stirs and coaches these internal persuaders.” – Eric Hoffer (July 25, 1902 – May 21, 1983)

It is absolutly wood and not those composits that so many are made of. It is absolutly beautiful and matches my other cherry wood furniture. It is exactly as pictured and comes very carefully wrapped and strapped. It is easy to unpack and very elegant looking. For the money this is an exceptional value. We had looked at many other stands and this is by far the loveliest and it sits up off of the floor/carpet for easy cleaning. I can’t say enough how much I love this beautiful piece of furniture. You won’t be sorry you purchased it! My son put it together for me in less than an hour (and he is a perfectionist).

I would recommend this product.

There is no better way of embellishing your house than getting a pair of Victorian Couches for company. Known for their elegance, style and persona, the couches from the Victorian Era are perchance the most sought after items in the collector’s list. A perfective blend of vision and craftsmanship, the Victorian Couch stands isolated from the rest of the crowd. Available in all shapes and sizes, the couches from the Victorian Era are now the latest fad amidst the fashion conscious.

Whenever a discussion revolves around purchasing a couch, we often, if not always, tend to get confused by the wide varieties and boundary line that are available in the market today. They are plainly in abundance and have the capacity to confuse and distract even the most stable minds. For those who like the conception of the Victorian Era may be rest assured that over here, the word confusedness is never entertained.

The Victorian Couch is an epitome of lavishness and is fictitious in sync with the classy Victorian Era. The designs, shapes and patterns are in sync with the olden days and even the material applied is very much alike. So over here, the style quotient deserves to get a hundred percent.

If we take into considerateness the quality of the wood, then again, we would not be disappointed as the raw materials used are supposedly the best in the business. So, whenever you get hold of a Victorian Couch, be rest assured that the buy is going to last you a lifetime. It all depends on how you use it.

The color combination’s are also in sync with the designs of the past and are bright in nature. You have a wide range to choose from, so you needn’t worry in regards to matching your Victorian Couch with the color of your walls and vice versa. If there is a great amount of discrepancy, then you may merely opt for the easy way out and have a suitable mattress or bed sheet hide the flaws that you perceived. This would sort all your difficultnesses out and it would be reasonably simple as well.

So if you have an inclination towards ageold furniture, the couches from the Victorian Era are a perfective example of their existence.

By the way, I ordered this piece and paid for 1-day shipping, which was only $10 and it arrived in 1-day, all 113 lbs!
A couple of things you should know before purchasing this item. First, it is 100% particle board, no real wood. Not necessarily a problem, but just so you know what you are getting. Second, check all pieces before assembling. I got about half-way through the 3 1/2 hour job (not sure how the one reviewer did it in 1 hour!) and realized that one of the pieces had cracked paint. Given the location of the piece and the lack of desire to return, I continued anyway. Some of the pieces don’t line up as well as they should and you may need to force a few together. (Doors are tricky to line up perfectly)
However, given the price I paid and the strength and appearance of the piece, I still feel it was a good purchase. I would recommend this piece, just not highly recommend.

Dailey
I bought this TV stand two months ago and it is great! It looks like I spent twice as much on it. It took about an hour to put it together, and the finished product is excellent. It is very sturdy for our tv (a 42′ flat screen Philips weighing about 90 lbs) and it’s the perfect length, doesn’t sag in the middle at all. The black finish looks great as well, hasn’t scratched. It has glass doors and plenty of room for our DVR, DVD player, XBOX and many DVD’s. I would HIGHLY recommend this product.

Abdallah
Purchased this stand along with a Samsung 52LN750. Coincidentally, this stand matched perfectly with my current decor. It looks fantastic when put together properly, particle board or not. Very sturdy as well.

I gave it four stars because of how generic the instructions are and because a couple of the pieces were a little roughed up. Luckily it kind of blended in with the natural “antique” look the stand possesses and there is no need to return anything.

Additionally, it is extremely difficult to line up the cabinet doors evenly. We got them as even as possible, but they are still not level. Good thing is that it is only apparent up close, at TV viewing distance you cannot tell what-so-ever.

Amazon gets 5 stars because of speedy shipment and the fact that the price was about $30 less than what it is at the time of me writing this review.

I would definitely recommend this piece if you have the time and ability to put it together. I chose this over numerous similar pieces that were double, some almost triple, the price… solely because it just flat out looked better.

Looking for the best 60 inch TV with features that make your observing experience seem like your own private movie theatre? Well, you have an potpourri of makes and models to choose from but the real decision comes down to Plasma, LCD or LED models.

A plasma television will significantly minimize any blur and deliver a clear picture; a must-have for all those sport fanatics who can’t miss a moment of action. With Plasma you also have a wider selection of screen sizes and it provides better contrast. The drawbacks of Plasma televisions are all the heat it produces. If choosing this type of television you’ll unquestionably want to place it in an open surroundings with good ventilation.

The best 60 inch TV doesn’t have to be a Plasma television notwithstanding for this size it’s not commended that you buy an LCD model. It’s been found that LCD televisions larger than 30 inches take longer for the images to adjust which may become a pain when altering channels. Additionally, viewers cannot entirely receive pleasure from watching an LCD television unless they are sitting dead center in front of it; sitting at an angle causes the picture to become blurred. In any case, the picture quality is unquestionably higher on littler sets so while attempting to choose the best 60 inch TV, rule this type out.

LED televisions are the latest models with exact images and crisp color spectrums; however, you’ll experience the same watching issues when sitting at an angle.

As noted before, the power usage of Plasmas are unbelievable. To provide an adequate picture it takes a lot of energy and gives off a lot of heat. LCD and LED televisions use less power which translates into less energy and less money.

You may suppose to recompense a few thousand for the best 60 inch TV for your home and keep in mind, no television is perfect.

There are three makes humans swear by either because of the quality of pictures or the value and price; Sony, Pioneer and Vizio.

Remarks for the Sony include a crystal clear picture that’s very bright with no black level patchy color issues. Pioneer received 5 out of 5 stars for outstanding video performance and engineering science that surpasses all other televisions including detachable speakers and video filters for heightened viewing. And for the Vizio 60 inch TV – it in truth doesn’t stand up versus the Sony or Pioneer 60 inch televisions nevertheless it’s a price buster. For when it comes to $3,000 the Vizio provides magnificent solution and bright images and comes with all the standard features you need for a home theatre experience.

Pinney
After spending hours looking at options for a TV stand or wall mount, I came to the decision to get a TV stand with a mount built in (because I live in an apartment). This is without a doubt the best choice in this category. It took me no more than 2 hours from the time I opened it until it was put together. The directions are pretty straightforward, even though I messed up a couple of times and had to backtrack. You can probably reduce the time it takes to build this by 50% if you have another person helping. Also, I HIGHLY recommend the 60″ version over the 42″ one. It is definitely worth the extra money. My 50″ flat screen goes perfect with this stand.

Here are the pros:

- The parts were very well packed
- Looks sturdy, quality material. This should last me my entire lifetime…
- Simple, easy to follow directions. Everything is labeled.
- A plethora of screws/bolts for TV mounting options (your TV is almost sure to have the correct mounting screws included)
- The mount is the best mount I’ve ever used. The mount is made to be very easily adjustable. It tilts vertically, as well as horizontally. It will not, however, slide side-to-side (horizontally) or up and down (vertically), but the tilting options are more than enough.
- BEAUTIFUL STAND
- Plenty of space

Cons
- I’ve noticed dust collecting on the glass after a few days. I have a micro fiber cloth nearby now, and I’ll probably have to make it a task to wipe it down real quick once a week. Not really much of a con though.
- It may take a little trial and error to get your TV on the stand at the desired height. You can eliminate the trial and error by doing some simple measuring/guesstimation though.
- Fingerprints might be a problem for people with kids.
- Might need extra washers. They gave me the exact number of washers that I needed, and I almost lost one when I dropped it.

Other things
Make sure you have plenty of space to put it together, and set aside a couple of hours to put it together. I have the TV the highest it will go (without allowing the mount to be visible) and there is about 7-8 inches from the top layer of glass to the bottom of my TV. This allows space for a quality center channel speaker to be placed directly under the TV. Lastly, if you’re looking for a home theater system to go with this stand check out EMP Tek. Their Impression series speakers (in red burl color) match this stand perfectly; They will blow any mainstream brand speakers out of the water, too.

I can’t really say enough about this stand. I have gotten comments on it from every last person that’s seen it. I’m very happy with my purchase.

24 of 25 people found the following review helpful.
Great TV Stand
By K. Dopheide
Purchased this 42″ stand a few weeks ago. Was easy to assemble, Looks Great, Sturdy. I mounted my 50″ Plasma on it, it extends beyond the stand a few inches on each side, but looks like they were made for each other. A great addition to my living room. The only suggestion I would have is maybe a couple of small rings welded on the inside of the rec. tubes of the cable management system so you could “zip tie” the cables so they would stay inside. Other than that minor thing, I would recommend this product to anyone. It’s funny, I was in Walmart the other day, noticed a couple looking at a TV stand that was similar but much inferior in it’s design. I suggested they look on Amazon for this one, lower cost, much heavier designed, even heavier glass shelving. They thanked me very much and walked away. I think people need a good deal once in a while, and I do this every chance I get. Like I said, this is a great product, and I don’t think you can find a better quality TV stand for the money. I would not hesitate to use this stand for up to a 54″ or possibly a 60″ TV. Depends on the space you have, the larger 60″ version may work better for a larger TV if you have the room for it, my space was somewhat limited and the 42″ version worked quite well.

It arrived very quickly and in excellent condition. It is very heavy and I did need another person to help me carry it into the house. It comes with a multitude of parts but it is easy to understand how to assemble the unit. I supervised my 11 year old grandson and watched him assemble it in about an hour. (my supervision consisted of making sure all the nuts and bolts were tight and to double check the pieces were assembled in the correct order, other than that things went very well) There were no parts shortages, in fact we had a few bolts left over in most cases.
I chose to have the unit with the TV attached rather than mounting the TV to the wall or using the stand that came with the TV set. It has many adjustments so you can move the TV to different positions on the stand to suit the place you set it up in your room.
It looks beautiful and it is very sturdy and functional. I mounted a 46″ TV without any trouble. The wires run up the back of the unit out of sight making for a clean uncluttered look in the room. The glass is very heavy and very dark and needs to be dusted on a regular basis but you would expect to do that anyway I would think.
I am very pleased with the unit and the price at Amazon which included free shipping was outstanding. I would certainly recommend it to my friends and many of them have remarked on how nice the unit looks after they have seen it in person.

How to clean wood tables all depends on how dirty the table is and what type of finish it has. If your tables are natural, stained wood you’ll need to use a bit more work to care for them than one that’s been sealed with a polyurethane coating. We’ll work through the cleaning choices for both from light dusting to a full deep cleaning.

If both types of table just have a little bit of dust on them you may clean them off with a static cloth. These cloths attract dust to them leaving a nice clean surface without any chemical residues.

If you want to shine the table up at the same time; then use a mercantile furniture polish to shine everything up. Grab a may of spray wax and lightly mist the table surface. Let it sit for a minute then wipe it off with a paper towel. The wax will pull up any light dirt and dust and leave the table shining.

If your table is actually dirty then you’ll want to use a tame wood soap. Mix up a bucket of soap and water. Scrub down the top of the table with a soft nylon brush. Be careful with brushing. Too stiff a brush may scratch the table surface. The scrubbing action plus soap will pull up any dirt as well as strip off any built up furniture polish. Next use a bucket of clean water to rinse all the suds off. For non sealed tables you’ll want to arid the table off with a arid rag. Poly coated tables may air dry.

That’s in regards to the heaviest work you’ll have to do for sealed tables. After everything is arid you’ll just implement another coat of polish to it to fetch back the shine.

Non-sealed tables require a couple further and added steps after the cleaning. You’ll want to oil the wood. Lemon oil is a good choice. It will support protect the table from water rings and leave a nice fresh scent. Be sure that the oil won’t modify the color of the wood before you go applying it to the table. Try applying a little bit of oil to the undersurface of the table original and let it set. If it looks good then you may go in front with oiling the table top.

Put on a pair of gloves then soak a rag in lemon oil. Work the lemon oil into the table finish. You want to keep applying oil until the table won’t absorb any more oil.

Once the wood stops taking up oil, wipe the surface down with galore paper towels to absorb any wet spots. Don’t set anything on the table for a few hours. The table will still be a little bit oily so you don’t want to put a cloth place setting back down on the table until it dries out a bit.

How to clean wood tables is finelooking straight forward. From a simple dusting occupation through a full deep cleaning it only takes a little bit of time and a couple furnishes you may pick up at any store.

The terms Arts and Crafts and Mission Style are often applied synonymously today. They refer to a style of home design and furnishings emphasizing natural materials, exceptionally wood, and showcasing a pronounced geometry in the design. Their vast revival in popularity stems largely from their association with hand-crafted constituents (though galore knock offs are fabricated by machine), a rarity in this technologically innovative age. The pieces offer an heirloom quality and a patina that deepens with age. Arts and Crafts furnishings and interiors are likewise distinctively very lasting and classic with a timeless appeal. They suit today’s desire to simplify and get back to basics. Arts and Crafts interiors are an idealisti marriage of function and aesthetic, spaces are designed to work for those living there. To create your own Arts and Crafts interior, there are various constituents to consider, both in materials and design.

The materials of an Arts and Crafts interior, while not fixed to nature, emphasize wood, stone, glass (made from sand), ceramic tiles (made from minerals/earth), and textiles (using wool, cotton, or linen fibers, and, of course, leather) Much of the visual pattern comes from the grain of the wood selected. Traditionally oak was used, but presently natural cherry is oftentimes enjoyed. The oak have a tendancy to have golden brown gleam, while the cherry is redder. Both darken naturally with age, this is to be expected.

Flooring, all architectural trim/molding, doors, stair rails and stiles, and exposed structural supports are all quintessentially wood, oak most prevalent. Waxed or oil finishes prevail. Joints are pegged or hand-crafted metal hardware is used. Door knobs, cabinet pulls and the like are again hand-crafted wrought iron or bronze in black, umber, or verdigris. Many are square or rectangular shaped and are hand hammered. For a lighter look, numerous householders today are opting for a soft brushed pewter or nickel finish. Once you have the guidelines, you may bend them to suit. If an substitute to a wood floor is desired, tile or slate would be suitable substitutes. The tile must be big and laid in a linear pattern, not on the diagonal.

To remainder and supplement the visual depth of the wood, walls are ofttimes treated with a textured paint, or plastered (the old bungalows have firstborn plaster.) A good bet is the river rock finish that Ralph Lauren paint provides. Paint systems bear an influence from nature with goldenrod yellows, burnt sienna browns, cimarron and Indian reds, sage and moss greens, and a neutral palette of earthy tans, toasts, and beiges. The overall sentiment has a harmony, a continuity of all parts working together, none upstaging the other. It is in regards to creating an organic home, one that works within it is surroundings and makes the most of it is surroundings both outside and inside.

Fireplaces have wood or stone mantels, with stone, ceramic, or at times brick surrounds. The wood is oak with a golden stain, ordinarily waxed or rubbed, not polyurethane. Satin or matte finishes rule. Stone is field stone, stacked arid or with mortar, it presents a terrific textural visual. River rock may be used rather and the round smooth stones provide a counterpoint to the rectilinear geometry other than as supposed or expected present. Ceramic tiles will quintessentially have a motif from nature, perhaps a leaf or acorn, or have an iridescent finish. Today glass tiles are likewise applied to outstanding advantage. Brick, when employed, is smooth faced and laid in clean horizontal bands. Again, one of the clear features of an Arts and Crafts interior is the linear quality. The sentiment that the house is part of a more prominent view, portion of the horizon, is all an effort to be from and of the earth.

Historically, a good deal of of the Arts and Crafts and Mission homes sported art glass windows, or at least a great deal of panes. This enabled windows to be left uncovered and still appear decorative. Today, art glass windows may be cost prohibitive except in select areas, so if treatment is desired for either privacy, light, or heat control, more elementary is better. This translates to choices such as a plain Roman shade, silhouettes, wood blinds, or panels on either tabs or rings, on a ornamental rod (wood or wrought iron), with finials. If tiebacks are desired consider sisal tassels, simple and bold, or a band of the same fabric as the drapery. No trim or other ornamental element is required. Fabric patterns may herald nature, such as a leaf print, or be based in geometry. There is a wide range on the market today including historical prints by William Morris and designs by Frank Lloyd Wright. The same may likewise be found in wall coverings, altho use them sparingly, as they are often busy and distracting. Arts and Crafts and Mission styles today both represent a desire for a wholesome, hearty lifestyle, a return to yesterday’s values.

Furnishings in the Arts and Crafts home are wood, occasionally with a wrought iron or ceramic tile accent. Glass is seldom used. Tables being functional as well as good looking, often have at least a drawer and a shelf for storage. Shapes are squares, rectangles and octagons, altho today more rounds are available. Again the geometry invented by edges is most apparent. Sofas and chairs are often times wood backed with exposed wood arms and cushions that may be readily cleaned or changed out depending on the season. Flexibility and adaptability are prime features. Mission style goes a step further and often times offers sofas or chairs with a deep wood shelf surround, acting as the arm and a table (Frank Lloyd Wright design), which gives the illusion of a built-in piece. Leather is oftentimes used or fabrics in natural fibers such as cotton, linen, or wool. Rich colors and geometric or patterns drawn from nature abound. The most significant interest comes from the combining of elements, again, no one piece dominating. Busy patterns are employed sparingly, increasing longevity and flexibleness of the furnishings. Resources for furnishings include Stickley, American Impressions by Ethan Allen, and Cotswald Furnishings, a superior resource for hand-crafted furnishings and more in Atlanta.

Lighting in an Arts and Crafts or Mission home is critical, particularly with all the dark woods and depth of color systems popular. While ceiling lights, including recessed may give a good ordinary light, it is far more effective and delighting to adopt a wealth of luminaries. Torchieres (floor lamps that give uplight, and are best placed in corners) may provide priceless popular lighting, while table lamps and floor lamps provide invitation and welcome. Accent lighting may be done with mantel lamps, sconces, and dresser lamps. The two most mutual types of lamps are the mica and metal designs, the body of the lamp being hammered bronze or copper, the shade a sheet of mica; and the art glass lamps with wood or art glass bases and shades of glass in geometric patterns and a squared coolie shape. Other lighting choices include a wealth of reproduction lighting through assorted lighting roots such as Arroyo Craftsmen, and Yamagiwa (available through designers; they also have an great line of Frank Lloyd Wright designs.)

Accents, accessories, and art ought to be kept to a minimum to concede for a fuller appreciation of the architecture of the home and materials of nature showcased. This is a good chance to provide remainder to the predominance of wood with constituents in glass, ceramics, and metal. Both bowls and vessels are readily available in all materials cited here. Iridescent ware in both ceramics and glass provides an airy supplement to the weight and depth of the wood.
