Oak Finish Twist Coat Rack

A wood surface that has been poor filled will be as smooth as glass and will add an graceful touch of class to your woodworking project, because all woodworking projects are judged by their finish. It is a good idea if you are a severe wood worker to take some time and learn how to fill pores this will heighten the finish of your project whether it be a piano or a simple coat rack. Obviously a heap of species of wood have more and larger pores than others if you’re working with Maple for instance the filling of pores is surely not a requirement but if you’re working with Oak and want a veritably glass finish you will need to fill pores.

There are fundamentally two dissimilar types of fillers available in the market today in oil based filler and a water based filler. Oil-based fillers have been around for decades they have been refined and made better and more comfortable to utilise over the years. Oil-based fillers may be broken down again into two dissimilar categories there is either a true oil based filler or an oil based filler that holds varnish the biggest divergence among the two is and how long it ought to arid before a clear coat may be added. A true oil based filler may require various days to arid whereas a varnish type filler may be ready for a top coat in a matter of a few hours. The application of an oil based filler may be handled in one of two ways you may apply the filler directly to a bare piece of wood this filler may be a natural color that will blend in with a woods color or it may comprise a stain or even concentrate colors such as Japan colors using this technique the filler will act both as a filler and the stain. The second method is to utilise a stain to the wood primary and seal it with a finish and then utilise the filler the this type of application will only fill up pores or not filled by the top coat.

The application of the oil based filler is controlled by what it is going to be used on bare wood or sealed wood. In the bare wood application the filler will color the wood and the pores whereas in a sealed wood application it will color only the pores.

A sealer coat that is thin will grant a little bit of color from the filler to stay on the surface of the wood, a thicker coat of sealer will wholly isolate the wood and only grant the filler into the pores. To prepare for the filler you will have to primary sand the area that will be receiving the filler with 320 grit sandpaper.

Before applying any filler to your project make sure that it is free from any dirt or dust. The filler may be applied by hand or it may be sprayed if you are going to implement it by hand you’ll want to use a brush that has very stiff bristles this will concede you to work the filler into the pores. As soon as you are done applying the filler to an area you will want to without delay squeegee off any excess you may use a commercially available plastic squeegee or even a credit card will work just fine. Once the filler has dried or hazed over use a wadded up burlap bag or a heap of cheesecloth to wipe off the excess.

This coat rack stand is astoundingly nice for the price. It’s very tall but does not feel unbalanced or wobbly. Very sturdy. In fact I’m going to buy another one now.

1terrible quality
By A buyer
The packaging is fine, but the coat rack itself is of very poor quality. The screws fall off from various parts. There is no phone number for replacing the bad parts.

Update: I employed a good deal of multi-purpose glue (available at Walmart) on the bad parts, the rack seems to be ok after that.
